Installation Instructions

TIZIP® zippers can be incorporated into garments and other products using high-frequency welding or gluing. Sewing and sealing with special tape is also possible.

We would be happy to assist you at any time when it comes to the optimal technical integration of our TIZIP® zippers into your product.

High-frequency Welding
The incorporation of our zippers is best accomplished using high-frequency welding. Doing so creates a material bond that often proves to be more durable than other bonds (e.g. sewn or taped seams).

Weld quality is dependent on material compatibility, condition of welding equipment and set welding parameters. Extra zipper tape can be provided upon request, to develop welding parameters that meet product specifications and aesthetic. Failure to maintain welding equipment and welding parameters can lead to damage to both electrode and zipper.

TIZIP® would be happy to provide you with a suitable welding electrode for the incorporation of our TIZIP® zippers into your product.

Gluing
If you select a gluing procedure for the incorporation of our TIZIP® zippers, we request that you make sure to avoid getting any residual glue on the zipper teeth and sealing lips. Do not attempt to remove any such residue with abrasives or solvents. Moreover, please also refrain from roughening the zipper.

Sewing
When incorporating our zippers, make sure that all of the seams are outfitted with sealing tape. Otherwise, it will not be possible to guarantee the specified TIZIP® sealing strength.

Minimum Slit Width
Make sure to maintain a minimum slit width no matter what method of incorporation you select. The slider needs a certain degree of play in order to ensure proper TIZIP® function.

Manual Instructions

Smart use
Make sure to maintain a minimum slit width no matter what method of incorporation you select. The slider needs a certain degree of play in order to ensure proper TIZIP® function.

  • Move the slider slowly when opening or closing the zipper. Pulling at an angle can damage the zipper and reduce its waterproof performance.
  • Avoid overstretching (pulling the two sides of the zipper apart). This can damage the slider and destroy the area near the bottom end.
  • Folding or crushing the zipper may damage the zipper and reduce its waterproof performance.
  • When closing, make sure the slider is completely over the docking end. If it´s slightly open, the zipper will not be tight.

Storage

  • Make sure to close TIZIP® zippers completely and taking care not to bend it for purposes of storage.
  • The storage in an opened position for long period will cause zipper bending. If this occurs, slight leaks are possible.
  • Keep the zippers clean and dry at all times.
  • Avoid storing the zippers in excessively hot and humid environments.
  • Proceed according to the FIFO (First In, First Out) method, whereby zippers are used in the same chronological order they were bought.

Cleaning

  • We recommend using a fine brush, as well as a mild detergent and water to clean all of our TIZIP® zippers.
  • Do not use solvents or abrasives, as doing so may compromise their functionality.
  • Any debris that is caught between the teeth or coils of our zippers can have a negative impact on the sealing lip and thereby limit their sealing performance.
  • If you use your TIZIP® zippers for purposes of protecting persons and property, it is incumbent on you to check their sealing function before making use of them.

Maintenance

  • The maintenance of our TIZIP® zippers may differ depending on the model in question.
  • If lubrication is necessary, make sure to use the original TIZIP® lubricant or a comparable product.
  • Please also make sure to clean the zippers before undertaking to lubricate them.
  • Proper lubrication prior to use is crucial to the proper functioning of all TIZIP® zippers that require lubrication.
  • A package of lubricant is included depending on the zipper version in question.
MasterSeal
  • The ports of zippers closed at both ends must be lubricated from time to time (e.g. after extended storage periods).
  • A lubricant is not necessary in the case of zippers that are open at one end or separated.
  • Depending on the exact model in question, MasterSeal zippers may come with or without a lubricated port.
SuperSeal
  • SuperSeal zippers need to be lubricated along the interlocking elements and sealing lip.
  • We request all manufacturers to apply some lubricant to the interlocking elements and the sealing lips
  • Then open and close the zippers across their full length at least 5 times after they have been incorporated into new products.
  • Proper lubrication is crucial for the functioning of our zippers!
  • To ensure proper lubrication, please follow the instructions in the relevant manual.
WaterSeal
  • For smooth operation grease our TIZIP® WaterSeal on occasion.
  • Please follow the maintenance instruction from our TIZIP® WaterSeal.
