TIZIP® zippers are designed to deliver many years of reliable performance, maintaining both mechanical functionality and water- and airtightness when key handling instructions are carefully followed.
Please take the time to carefully read the enclosed essential instructions for proper storage, cleaning and lubrication to fully understand the risks that could arise from improper use.
STORAGE
For manufacturers
- Always inspect your freshly delivered zipper package for any damage, bending, or folding during the shipping process.
- Store the unused zippers in a straight, unbent position, avoiding warm and humid environments.
- Use the FIFO (First In, First Out) method, ensuring that zippers are used in the same chronological order in which they were purchased.
For users
- Keep the zipper clean and dry at all times. Insufficient drying of the zipper tape and end pieces or improper zipper storage can lead to material degradation (delamination, leakage) caused by aging (moisture, temperature, microorganisms, etc.), known as hydrolytic degradation processes.
- Ensure that both sides (inside and outside) of the TIZIP zipper are completely dry when storing. If the zipper is not completely dry after use, it should be stored fully opened to allow air circulation between the inside and outside of the finished product. Also, ensure that any trapped moisture between overlapping flaps and the zipper is dried as well. In the case of diving and rescue, turn the suit inside-out to completely dry the inner textile/neoprene.
- After complete drying, the zipper can be closed. Please use a coat hanger to store the suit under normal temperature and humidity conditions. Do not store the suit in a closed box, as higher temperatures and humidity can affect the material of the zipper. Avoid exposure to UV sunlight. We also recommend moistening the tape with a multifunctional soaked cloth after drying. This procedure significantly increases the lifespan of the zipper.
Hydrolysis
Cleaning
- Use a fine brush, mild detergent and water to clean all of our TIZIP® zippers. Solvents and abrasives must not be used, as these can compromise functionality.
- Any debris caught between the teeth or coils of the zippers can compromise the sealing lip and limit sealing performance.
- Always check the zipper sealing function before use.
